How to put music on an iPod without iTunes

With a Chromium-based browser you can copy music to a classic iPod by dragging files or folders, without installing iTunes.

  1. Open iPod WebSync on a computer with Chrome, Edge, Brave or Opera.
  2. Connect the iPod by USB. It must show up as a disk drive.
  3. Click connect and pick the iPod root folder. The app checks that the iPod_Control structure exists.
  4. Drag loose files or whole album folders. The title, artist, album and cover art are read from each file.
  5. Review the queue and sync. The app writes the iTunesDB database so the iPod shows the songs.
  6. Safely eject the iPod before unplugging it.

Free limit

Without a pass you can transfer up to 500 MB in total. Passes remove that limit.

Sync your iPod from the browser, nothing to install.
